1. TITLE │ DINE UNDER THE STARS
Gaze into the sky with millions of stars shining above while dining. Gently feel the stony floor with grounded feet and listen to the sound of natures as letting the mind drift away to your own world of imaginations, savoring the special cuisine prepared by the chef, light to the palate yet flavorful
2. BACKGROUND
The client of this remodeling project is a materialism scholarly family who like natural sunlight, water & greenery. They are socializing event-goers who often having heavy guest visiting at their place hence they emphasize their living privacy. The client love travelling and collect arts around the world, they happened to be astonished by "Dine under the stars" event series during one of the travel trips. The client requested an open space could be flexible in usage where can house more than 5 vehicles vice versa 50 people of gathering.
3. HIGHLIGHTS
| Materialism
Like the bronze, wood and stone finishes were treated to emphasize their materiality; Shell white limestone floors received a wire-brush scouring prior to honing, producing an easily cleaned surface that feels natural beneath the feet. While many of the material treatments and structural systems required bespoke solutions, it is the whole and that represents the project's truest expression of craft. Not just one thing in itself, but how everything comes together. That's the craft of architecture.
| Guest & Privacy
The client is welcoming their guest to freely roam around at their place; hence they also emphasize their living privacy. Design for both introverted and extroverted characters is captured. Above, a nearly windowless box encloses the private quarters; the design of these spaces seems like it is unlinking from the main building. An operable privacy screens have been designed to enclose the facade opening, shut or open according to privacy needs.
The Ground floor, conversely, is glass enclosed and can be opened almost entirely to the garden. Huge glass located at the hall with open sky effect, which bring the rain & greenery closer to the hall and bring sunshine into the hall.
With the design theme “Dine under the stars”, a flexible open space being designed to be open & airy, festival, warm, intimate retreat that could, on occasion, accommodate gatherings of more than 50 people.
| Scholarly family &frequent travelers
The fanciness for the book’s lover and art collector. Two long stretches of double storey bookshelves with ladders at the hall designed for the scholarly family. In keeping with the desire for warmth of another sort, bronze was selected as the metal of choice that gives the house its richness. Translucent glass selected for the high level railing and walking platform of the bookshelves, and light is both reflected and refracted by the glass and fill the hall.
